The day started a little cloudy; we hoped the sun would come out more as we had planned a lazy, relaxing beach day.
After some fresh fruit and yoghurt for our breakfast we walked through the pretty garden and straight onto the beach. It’s beautiful, with hundreds of pine trees hugging both sides of the cove. We swam and shade bathed and even did a little sunbathing.
Late morning, we decided to walk to the next cove where we had seen a few yachts heading. It took us just ten minutes via an overgrown narrow path.

There were a couple of houses overlooking the bay and three yachts gently bobbing in its waters.
We took some photographs of ‘our beach’ as we were heading back.

We returned to our sunbeds, then had another swim and continued to sunbathe and read. Suddenly, a gust of wind came from goodness knows where, and with it, a parasol. I could see it flying through the air directly towards Dave. It was like slow motion, just before the parasol reached Dave it flipped and the pointed end struck him in the chest! I couldn’t get up quick enough to catch it and Dave had a beer in one hand and his kindle in the other. He was a little taken aback but otherwise fine. Two ladies who were sunbathing close to us jumped up to try to help. The lady whose parasol it was came running over, clearly mortified; she apologised profusely in broken English and enquired if Dave’s ribbon was broken! Everyone was amazed at the sudden strong gust of wind. ‘It could have been worse, I could have lost my beer’ Dave quipped.
Deciding it was a good time for lunch, we wandered along the beach to one of the small tavernas. We ordered a traditional Skopelos Pie which was filled with wild greens and a dish of spaghetti carbonara.
Following our delicious lunch, we enjoyed a siesta.
Later, as the sun was beating down on our tiny patio we sought out a couple of sunbeds in the shade in the garden. When the sun moved round, we sat on the swing accompanied by a glass of rose wine for me and a beer for Dave.
We went to the beach again to watch the sunset; it dropped slowly behind a small island. It was nowhere near as stunning as last night’s sunset but it is wonderful to be here and to have the opportunity and time to just sit and watch it.
Before dinner we walked through the small village along the road and then returned along the beach before choosing a taverna directly on the beach again.
We managed to stream ‘Mama Mia’ again and watched the end of it, sat outside, under the stars on the stunning island where it was filmed.
We have had a wonderful lazy day.
